“I describe the feeling- the NEED to photograph something, like a crush. I feel bewitched by texture. Walls constantly call to me. I am obsessed with crumbling paint and the feeling of rich isolation. I love power lines against a blue sky. There’s something incredible about California and the light. It’s relentless. I almost never photograph people. I love empty spaces. I think it comes from growing up in such a crowded, busy town. It’s those moments of emptiness that I treasure. I come alive catching places uninhabited. The beauty in a tattered coiled rope in the street, or the reflection of a palm tree in a puddle, it is miraculous to me how much love I feel for these beautiful objects in space.”
